POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer I to join our dynamic team at a leading biomedical device company. This position will involve designing and developing software systems and tools as part of a team. Focus will be on developing embedded software to power our Merlin blood-testing product, adhering to medical device standards for software quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
These may include but are not limited to:
- Developing software components and participating in integration of software components
- Developing software tools to facilitate software test and integration activities
- Developing and executing software test protocols and generating test reports
- Troubleshooting issues related to system functionality and performance
- Contributing to cross-functional teams
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
- Familiarity with embedded software system design and concepts
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as C/C++/C#/Python, especially .NET
- Experience with build systems, unit testing and general best practices in SW development
- Proficient knowledge of networking and familiarity with Unix and Windows operating systems
- Competent in use of requirements management and issue tracking systems like Jira/Confluence
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to author and present technical documents
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience in life sciences industry is a strong preference
- Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a primarily office-based role in San Diego, CA.
COMPENSATION
The base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000 per year. Individual pay may vary based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base salary, this role includes meaningful equity participation, eligibility for the annual target bonus plan, and a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, and flexible time off policy).
